Technical Business Analyst

Fantastic opportunity for an experienced Technical Business Analyst to join a new contract within a large NSW Government Department at an exciting time.

  • Contract: 13 Months initially until March 2023! May potentially extend
  • Location: WFH & CBD Office (ad hoc)
  • Start Date: Ideally February 2022

The Role:

The Technical Business Analyst facilitates the alignment and improvement of business processes and systems through research, analysis, documentation and implementation of change initiatives.

The Technical Business Analyst is responsible for delivering business analysis activities to ensure the accurate specification of system requirements, both functional and non-functional for the successful delivery of ICT Infrastructure projects and events. This involves working closely with the ICT Infrastructure team and other technical staff within Information Services, as well as working across other areas of the organisation.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Review end to end business processes, having regard for legislative compliance and a focus on future proofing ICT Infrastructure systems
  • Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders and subject matter experts (including senior management) to gather business requirement, from high level scope to detailed scope of work and deliverables
  • Work closely with the business and key stakeholders to identify potential risks and propose viable solutions
  • Translate business requirements into functional designs and technical specifications using best practice business analysis methodologies
  • Facilitate workshops, map requirements to system functionality, perform gap analysis and provide support to the development team and business throughout the implementation process
  • Review and contribute to project documentation including test scenarios and test case development, ensuring traceability and coverage between business requirements and testing
  • Manage ongoing communication with the ICT Infrastructure team to ensure that business needs are clearly understood and will be met by the systems under development

Essential Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience
  • Extensive experience (7 year+) working in complex ICT Infrastructure environments, implementing business process or system change and improvements
  • Experience in developing a range of functional and technical system specifications for complex, integrated Infrastructure systems and solutions
  • Experience in collaborating with and influencing stakeholders to manage expectations and reach agreement amongst the stakeholders
  • Ability to understand and apply regulatory instruments based on sound knowledge of relevant legislation and the legislative framework, government policies and reforms, and current public sector trends
